In this episode you will meet Khalila, a wonderful soul!

Hey! I’m Khalila. 

I have been a survivor since 2013 and an advocate in the fight against human trafficking since 2020. Just like every survivor, I bring a unique, specific perspective on the issue and my personal story has influenced the work I do. In my years since leaving “the life”, I’ve gained experience and education working in the anti-trafficking field to help others leave exploitation.

I have worked as a residential technician and a case manager, with several organizations such as Hope Center Indy and The Salvation Army in the Greater Cincinnati Anti-Human Trafficking Division.  

Currently I serve  as a Board Member on the Survivor Advisory Council for the Collaborative to End Human Trafficking, representing the Northeast Ohio Region and am a member of Survivor Alliance.

 In 2020 I met and partnered with Dr. Carolyn Knight, the Founder of Light In Darkness Ministries, of which I will soon be leading a chapter of in the Queen City.

I am passionate about helping others find freedom from human trafficking and believe that we all share a responsibility in the fight to do what we can to eradicate this and bring healing to those that are both free and still entrapped.
 
My long term goal is to establish a refuge for children, young girls, women that are victims and survivors of human trafficking, with the intention of global outreach for this international need.

I’m excited to partner with you in the fight for freedom from modern day slavery!

As a survivor of many types of abuse from birth to right before I started my senior year of high school, I was born into a generational satanic cult, sex trafficked by four family members, and experienced awful things you don’t want to imagine.

After years of feeling ashamed about what happened to me, I finally realized in 2022 that I was not the one who should be ashamed. The abusers should be. I discovered that telling my story and supporting other survivors has helped me heal. It also permits others to share their story.

After being trafficked in her early 20's, Kristin has passionately fought human trafficking and worked in the anti-trafficking sector since 2008. She is an active member of key organizations such as the Regional Interdisciplinary Collaborative Working to Disrupt Human Trafficking, The Virginia Coalition Against Human Trafficking, Survivor Alliance, and more.

Kristin serves as the on the Board of Directors as the Survivor Affairs Expert for Liluye, a global anti-trafficking organization. She is a recognized speaker and published writer on topics like vacatur & criminal record relief, survivor engagement & leadership, current policy issues. Her advocacy work reaches state, national and international audiences. She has done multiple podcasts, webinars, media interviews and keynotes.

A valued contributor and advisor to organizations like One God Foundation & Recover Hope,as well as sitting on several Boards, Kristin actively champions survivor involvement.

She presently is dedicating all the
free time she can find to work alongside the amazing, all volunteer team behind We Fight Monsters & Sparrow House. Kristin is the Fundraising and Grant Coordinator, as well as acting in the capacity of the Survivor Services & Anti-Trafficking Specialist. She is humbled to be a part of the team that is comprised of retired and active duty veterans, passionate allies, and addiction survivors. 

Kristin's diverse roles include grant proposal writing, consulting, blog writing, speaking engagements, and grant award compliance. Her technology skills are advanced, and include extensive knowledge and experience in numerous applications, programming, web design, marketing, social media coordination, writing copy, SEO, various AIs and more. 

She's dedicated to amplifying survivor voices, fostering leadership, and promoting accountability. Kristin also is highly skilled in networking - pulling in numerous sectors to work together to combat human trafficking across all modalities. 

Off-duty, Kristin is a skilled chef, avid gardener, and animal enthusiast, sharing her life with her boyfriend Jon and their home with a cat, a dog, and two guinea pigs.
