I wanted to give a sacrifice to The Eye, however my circumstance in the working world, and being the practically unwanted houseguest of those at least charitable enough to allow me to stay for the time I had—was unable to remain in silence as I had wanted; I wished not to speak, or to concern myself with other people at all—but, forced into the worlf, had become subject of the forced smiles, hellos and goodbyes, please and thank yous, good mornings and good nights, and other irritating niceties of humankind that I hadn't wanted to participate in at all, but needed to. It would be too risky and difficult to complete a true fast, my commute alone consuming large amounts of physical and mental energy—and so I searched for something to give up; a sacrifice was needed to ensure I wouldn't die in this realm of mediocrity and purposeless. There had to be something I could do to display my true self; all I asked in return was a mere space of my own and the time—the precious time—to complete my various works.
