Well…it’s the ranking for Brand New Eyes. It took a stutter step of weeks to get here, but we made it and it’s kind of a weird one. Just please speak to the tree if you need to speak.

We won’t get into the nitty gritty here. Let’s just have a cool ranking and figure it out from there, hmm?

It’s HOA, HOA, HOA season, y’all! We’re wrapping up our song restrospectives with “All I Wanted” and “Decode” and try to avoid talking about Twilight as much as possible.

That’s right, though…that means you have mere hours (as of this show posting) to get in your last thoughts and rankings for Brand New Eyes. What the hell, man?

(00:32:41) The Love You Byes

Well…we done did it again. We had to miss recording again. Swear this isn’t normal. But instead of skipping a week, Lilli had some spare time and wanted to try something new. Enter a bonus Soundsystem episode. How crazy is that? Lilli sits down to discuss five songs she’s been listening to and wants you to listen to too. She also takes a quick moment to pay respects to “The Butcher,” the late, great Andy Williams.

We can’t promise this will be a normal thing during skip weeks, but it felt nice to do, and we hope you enjoy it. We’ll see you next week for the last tracks of Brand New Eyes!

Star Tits…FORWARD! It’s time to talk about “Where the Lines Overlap” and “Misguided Ghosts”. We feel notably better about these two songs, though the confusion about the “oops, we forgot we should be positive” moment persists. But hell, do we love an acoustic.

Two things:

1. We're recording next week's episode on Monday 9/7 instead of our normal day, so if you're the kind of person who waits until episode release to send in a response, you're going to want to get those in by 3:00 PM Pacific on MONDAY September 7th! If you have any thoughts about Where the Lines Overlap, Misguided Ghosts, or anything else we've talked about this season (or earlier), get them in! Now is also a good time to be thinking about and sending your Brand New Eyes rankings. WE ARE INCLUDING DECODE IN THIS RANKING
2. We will be talking to Trevor from Sundressed in mid-September on the first episode of the Cold Open (you know, that monthly show we've been talking about since April?) If you have questions for Trevor about Sundressed, music, or more...send it to the contact zones!

As ever, our contact info is down below. Send it in because we don't want to have to skip Mail Time again!

Anyway...love you bye!

(01:14:57) The Love You Byes

It’s our first episode since the unfortunate passing of Dolly Parton and Tim Curry. We pay them and their legacies respect in the Soundsystem segment, but not before we discuss the songs “Feeling Sorry” and “Looking Up.” We’re not going to call it a midpoint lull, but we will say it’s nice to have a bit of a relaxed episode for once. That, along with the mechanics of backflips and cool news about special guests contained inside. Join us, won’t you?

Faith? Who needs it!? Well, it’s complicated! We’re covering “Turn it Off” and “The Only Exception”. Tender songs about love? Check. Extended conversation about childhood religious deconstruction? Check. Gendered revelations about Home Goods? Check. Biblically accurate betrayal from Adam? DOUBLE check.
