Safe Arbor: MSU’s Indigenous Add-On

Earlier this month on Indigenous People’s Day, Montana State University’s Department of Native Studies officially dedicated its new massive permanent arbor behind the building. About 5 years in the making, the arbor highlights the importance of the department’s cultural legacy and its presence on campus. Plus it’s just super pretty.

Outlaw Beat sat down with Department Chair Meredith Hecker, PhD, Riley Rivers of River Landscaping, and Project Manager Jake Berger of Blanton Contracting to discuss the challenges and rewards of undertaking a decidedly different kind of project.
