Meet my guest: Hayley Cameron is an Education Safeguarding Manager at Cognus Limited, London Borough of Sutton

Her story: "How I came to work in safeguarding - my why - 10 years old lost an aunt to domestic abuse - she was 26. She had 2 children and we brought them up as our own - they struggled at school - little understanding of the impact of trauma and undiagnosed need - I went into teaching because I wanted to fix that. Involved in a serious case review in 2013 where a pupil that I worked with was murdered by her parent - impacted on everything and led to what I do today and highlights the need for supervision - safe space to share how you are feeling. Following this we also developed https://www.childsafeguardingtoolkit.org.uk/ which is a resource free to anyone working in safeguarding."
