  • How Our Society Is Run by Wounded Masculine Energy & Why Finding Balance Within Is Key

What if creating a healthier, better-functioning society could start from within? By understanding the energies our current society is run by, and how we can influence the role we play in it?

In this second episode of Safety Within Podcast, we explore healthy and wounded masculine and feminine energies, how they show up in our lives, and how they influence the way we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us. We also bring the nervous system into the conversation and explore the relationship between our nervous system and these energies.

Together, we unpack the differences between healthy and wounded energies, and how the environments we've grown up in can shape the ways we move through life. We explore what happens when we operate only from one polarity of these energies, and what becomes possible when we have access to both.

We also look at how our society has been shaped by wounded masculine energy, and what this means for women, our place in society, and the feminist movement. We talk about why women rising up doesn't have to mean pushing harder, proving more, or adopting the very patterns that have kept us disconnected from ourselves. Instead, what might become possible when we learn to move from a place of inner safety and regulation, with access to both our healthy masculine and feminine energies?

To bring these ideas into everyday life, we walk through a familiar workplace scenario: what happens in your nervous system when a boss approaches you in a way that triggers you, and how you can begin to respond differently — from a place of regulation and choice.

This is a conversation not to miss. We encourage you to share it with the women and men in your life, because we all embody both of these energies within us. And the more aware we become of them, the more agency we have in how we show up and choose to respond in our lives.

  • Why Your Nervous System Keeps You Stuck & How to Move Forward with More Safety

What if feeling stuck isn't a sign that something is wrong with you?

What if your nervous system just doesn't believe the life you want is safe for you yet?

In this episode of Safety Within Podcast, I am joined by Lea, founder of the Return To Receiving Method™, certified trauma healing practitioner, and breathwork & somatic movement facilitator, for a conversation about the nervous system and the protective strategies that can quietly keep us feeling stuck in our lives.

Together, we explore what "stuckness" means on a nervous system level and what people-pleasing, perfectionism, hyper-independence, and over-functioning are protecting us from – and how they aren't personality traits but adaptive strategies that developed to keep us safe in environments that didn't always feel safe.

We also unpack how these patterns can show up through our wounded masculine and wounded feminine, influencing how we relate to others and move through the world.

We explore the different nervous system states – fight or flight, freeze, fawn, and shutdown – and the signs that can help you recognize them in yourself.

Throughout our conversation, we explore why awareness alone isn't always enough to create change, what it means to cultivate embodied safety, and how healing begins as the nervous system starts to experience more cues of safety.

If you've ever felt like you're doing all the "right" things but still find yourself returning to the same patterns and the same relationships, I hope this episode offers a new perspective – one rooted in curiosity, compassion, and nervous system awareness.

Because healing isn't about fixing who you are.

It's about creating enough safety within to become your fullest self.
