Taking a break from the usual chaos and comedy of the SafetyUp podcast, Eric recounts the inspirational story of Richard Rescorla, a security specialist whose foresight and emergency preparedness saved the lives of thousands of lives on September 11, 2001.

Eric & Gavin introduce the month of September as National Preparedness Month.  Gavin forces Eric to realize the roles they are playing aren't so contrived as he thought.

This is the last episode for the month of August, during whcih we have focused on the various types of Personal Protective Equipment used by employees.  Gavin is out sick today, so Eric was forced to do all the tech-geek stuff that Gavin normally does, and Gavin will no doubt pay for that at a later time.

Eric & Gavin continue August's topic of PPE with eye protection. Gavin demands equal time on the microphone which doesn't quite work out the way he thinks it will.

Eric & Gavin discuss foot protection as part of August's continuing theme on personal protective equipment.  Gavin let's a fan know he's single, which, of course, gives Eric ammunition for the entire episode.

Gavin & Eric continue this month's safety topic of PPE talking about hand and arm protection with the usual antics that occur when they get in the same room together.

For the month of August we will be covering all the various types of Personal Protective Equipment designed to protect workers from injury.  A different type of PPE will be covered each week, and today's topic is head protection, which Eric had to record solo due to Gavin being on vacation.  This, of course, will in no way result in any repercussions in future episodes.  Really, we mean that.

Eric & Gavin both get serious for a change while discussing the extreme dangers associated with trenching and excavation.

Eric & Gavin discuss the dangers of working in a high heat environment, and Gavin calls Eric "vertically challenged."  (Okay, he calls him "short," but we're trying to keep from hurting Eric's feelings even more here.)

Eric & Gavin help out an employee who is concerned about sound levels in her plant while Eric introduces Gavin to the new recording equipment he conned Gavin's boss into ordering.  Gavin is not happy when he figures this out.
