Sur gham e dil ke khushi men badal jaayen

Bulbul ke naghme koi beetey sunaye

Maathe pe shikan yun saaf ho jaaye

Goya naya ek parcham rukh per lehraye

Hoton pe tabassum ho taaza o mustaqil

Dil bhi kuchh aisa ab mera muskuraye

Ho jaaye mojaza kuchh aisa hi ‘sahil’

To sar mera phir se ik baar jhuk jaaye
