SAHRC to appear in court in a hate speech case

The South African Human Rights Commission will appear in the Gqeberha High Court today in a hate speech case against shop owner Dawood Lagardien, who displayed a discriminatory sign at his store banning LGBTQIA+ individuals. The Commission is seeking action against Lagardien for violating the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act.
