    Professor Mariame Sy discusses growing up speaking Pulaar, Wolof and French in multilingual Senegal. She describes how she became interested in linguistics, and eventually became a teacher of Wolof at Columbia. She goes into detail about how she teaches Wolof, and how she views this teaching as a Decolonial enterprise. She discusses how she identifies specific concepts within Wolof culture, and helps students to build a detailed understanding of those concepts over the course of several years.

He shares how he became a teacher of Ukrainian and an advocate for the language, and how he wrote a bilingual English-Ukrainian collocation dictionary. He also discusses the impact that Putin's incursion into Ukraine in Spring 2022 has had on how the language is being spoken today.
