Camilla Brandt is competing in the Clipper Race. This is a race around the world on a 70-foot ocean racing yacht. The route is divided into eight legs.

Camilla is from Munich, but I met her in Washington DC, where she had just completed the seventh leg, which began in Seattle. In a few days, she and the rest of the crew would begin the eighth and final leg - a sprint across the Atlantic to finish line - Portsmith, England.

I sat down with Camilla to hear her story and get her perspective on what will be for her - more than 18-thousand kilometers of aggressive, competitive sailing in a race, the brainchild of Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the only event of its type which invites anyone, even if they have never stepped on a boat before, to join the adventure.
