S’ain’t Anthony: Breaking the Writ & Breaking the Rules

Listen Later

In this explosive episode of the Underground Nation Podcast, hosted by your host-with-the-ghost Bounce Ball Boogie, we sit down with one of the fastest-rising forces in the modern heavy music landscape — S’ain’t Anthony. Emerging from the legendary NY/NJ music scene, S’ain’t Anthony brings a genre-bending sound that fuses heavy metal, industrial rhythm, pop-rock hooks, and an unmistakable 80s swagger.
Led by vocalist and bassist S’ain’t, and powered by guitarist Dylan Ficken and drummer Vincenzo DeMatteis, this band has transformed a solo project into a full-scale thunderstorm of high-energy performances, emotional storytelling, and electrifying stage presence. Their chemistry, passion, and dedication hit hard — both on and off the stage.
With roots deep in classic hard rock and heavy metal influences like KISS, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, and more, S’ain’t began his musical journey early. At just 8 years old, he was already behind the drum kit. By high school he had formed his first rock band, writing songs and building the foundation for what would later become the S’ain’t Anthony sound. When the band dissolved, S’ain’t refused to stop. Instead, he expanded his skills to guitar and vocals, releasing solo music under the name S’ain’t Anthony starting in 2021.
Everything changed in 2024 when longtime friend and drummer Vincenzo joined the mission to bring S’ain’t’s music to the live scene. Together, they sought the final missing piece — which they found in the blazing guitar talent of Dylan Ficken, inspired by Eddie Van Halen’s legendary sound. With the trio officially formed, S’ain’t Anthony hit the stage with fire, attitude, and a whole new level of musical force.
In this episode, we explore the band’s origin story, their creative process, and their evolution leading up to their first full-band collaborative release, “Broke The Writ.” We unpack the sonic DNA behind their music — the heavy riffs, the industrial undertones, the pop-rock choruses, and the electrifying performances that have already captivated local audiences.
Listeners get insider access to how the band writes, records, and pushes themselves creatively. We discuss the transition from being a solo artist to leading a complete band, the challenges of balancing art and financial reality, and the exciting momentum behind their latest singles including “Toxic Lover” and “Phantom X.”
Expect laughs, raw honesty, deep reflection, and plenty of metal talk as Bounce Ball Boogie guides the conversation with his signature underground energy. Whether you're a diehard heavy metal fan, an underground music hunter, or a supporter of independent artists forging their own path, this episode delivers inspiration, insight, and pure sonic adrenaline.
We also dive into the NY/NJ underground scene — a birthplace of countless icons — and hear firsthand what it’s like to carve out a new legacy in an era where genre lines blur and creativity reigns supreme.
