Our great friend and church planter Sam Harvey joins us to spread some ‘Joy’ by speaking on this theme for our Advent series.

Blake starts our Advent series looking at the theme of “love” and what it looks like to make room for God and others in our lives this Christmas.

Gifted communicator Sam Harvey joins us for the second-to-last week of our series, ‘The Way of the Least Likelies’, looking at a crucial trait of a Least Likely, that of humility. Sam was, until recently, a senior pastor at Grace Vineyard Church in Christchurch. He and his wife Jen, along with their three young boys, moved to Napier earlier this year to plant a church.

We’ve been following in the footsteps of Jesus’ disciples over the course of our series, ‘The Way of the Least Likelies’, and by this, we often think of the 12 male disciples. But there was also a larger group of followers with Jesus that included some really amazing women. This week, we have Sarah Harris exploring what we know of the women who picked up their cross and followed Jesus. Sarah teaches New Testament at Carey Baptist College and loves nothing more than helping people meet Jesus in the scriptures. She is married to Craig and proud mother of four adult kids.

These few verses changed the course of history for children: "Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there" - Matthew 19:13-15. In this latest podcast, Newt traces the historic impact of these verses and what it means for us to decouple ambition from status.

"The Kingdom of God is an “I will do it Kingdom.” We at Saint Augustine’s want to be the kind of place full of people who have seeds to sow, we want to be cultivators and contributors because every seed counts and everything matters. We can know a lot of information about God or Jesus or the Bible, but what does it look like to have that information touch our day-to-day reality? This week, Blake looks at the importance of putting Jesus' words into action in our lives and delves further into the idea of being Jesus' apprentice, even when we face failure.

Newt focusses on Jesus famous teaching: The Sermon on the Mount. Jesus describes how the world really works and what's at the heart of reality. We can learn to step into this reality and align our lives with it.

Blake looks at the tricky topic of temptation. It's something we all face and struggle with, and in this talk, Blake looks at what temptation is really all about and how we can face it in the way that Jesus did.
