  • Finances
Pastor Tom Grieb concludes our “Health Assessment” sermon series.

Nothing quite impacts our lives like money. It takes a certain degree of money to grease the wheels and keep things going. We are learning that during a time of high inflation it takes more and more money to keep those wheels greased.

We’d all do well to have a plan when it comes to our finances. More importantly, we’d do well to re-evaluate the place of money in our lives and how we might honor God with what he has first given.

  • Family
Pastor Ashlee Adkins continues our “Health Assessment” sermon series.

The late great George Burns once said this: "Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family…in another city." Family is precious, but as we all know, it can be hard and complicated, too.

The pressure and stress of leading a family in the world right now is extremely hard. We are more connected via the internet and social media than ever, but on the flip side we are more disconnected from relationship and real connection than we have ever been.

Parents are working more than ever because of easy accessibility while trying to be present at home. Kids are feeling the pressure of constant scrutiny because their whole lives are documented online. And marriages are surviving with a pool noodle and schedules.

We have to fight for our families. Proverbs makes it clear how to do that. In this message we dig into this timeless wisdom, no matter your family dynamic, variation, or situation.

  • Relationships
Pastor Tom Grieb continues our “Health Assessment” sermon series.

We were not built to go it alone.  We were created to be in relationship, relationship with God and with one another. Much of life is based on the relationships we develop. We should always be nurturing those we have and seeking out new ones. Good friends are worth their weight in gold. In fact, they surpass all the gold in the world.

Good friends support one another, listen to one another, and are there for one another. And, of course, good friends love one another. We should do all we can do to be a good friend to those around us.

Proverbs 18:24 hit it right: “Some friends play at friendship, but a true friend sticks closer than one’s nearer kin.” When we just play at friendship we miss out on so much. When we are intentional life becomes sweeter and certainly more fulfilling.

  • Emotions
Pastor Tom Grieb continues our “Health Assessment” sermon series.

We are talking this week about emotional health. It’s a broad topic that affects us all. Proverbs has good things to say about such things, as does the rest of scripture.

God is concerned about our emotional health. He realizes that at its base emotional health is a spiritual issue. It is tied to God’s love for us, which translates into a healthy love for self and others. We love only as we have first been loved and that starts with God..

  • Spirit
Pastor Tom Grieb continues our “Health Assessment” sermon series.

The Book of Proverbs offers a great prescription for spiritual health, which then leads to good overall health—body, mind, and spirit. That prescription is found in Proverbs 3:5-8 where the writer talks about “trusting in the Lord with all your heart.”

It comes to us to solely rely on the One who sees far beyond what we can see. We are to rest in the One who is all strength. We are to be open to the One who is all love. In all these things and so much more we will find ourselves emerging spiritually and engaging the whole of life in healthy ways—body, mind, and spirit.

  • Mind
Pastor Ashlee Adkins continues our “Health Assessment” sermon series.

We’ve talked a lot about the mind and our thoughts in the past year. We know that we are living in the times of information overload. When we watch the news, not only are we listening to someone, but we see visuals, a scroll bar at the bottom and sometimes even on the side – all of which are trying to engage our minds with different information about the same topic.  It is overwhelming!

It’s not hard to believe that we are tired. Our basic thought bandwidth is held for our jobs, trying to do a good job in whatever family role we hold, and then, hopefully, there’s a little space for spending time with God.

When we think about our minds, we probably don’t think that our hearts would be in the same assessment of health – but that’s not the case with God. Our heart health is what drives our mind’s health.

So, how are you doing? Ashlee raises some important questions to help you discern that answer. We pray it’s a good one and if not, it’s ok - know you are in the right place for changing that.

  • Body
Pastor Tom Grieb kicks off our new “Health Assessment” sermon series.

Good health is uppermost on everyone’s mind, particularly in the New Year. Health is a whole life issue. You can’t separate physical health from emotional health, nor can those two be separated from spiritual health. One affects the other. When it comes to health, we are an organic whole.

Scripture seems to affirm that as we will see over the next few weeks as we make our way through selected passages of the Book of Proverbs.

This Sunday we begin a new sermon series entitled “Health Assessment.” It will seek to consider our health from a number of different vantage points. All along, we will be referencing the Book of Proverbs. This week we will consider physical health, reading from Proverbs 25:16, I Corinthians 6:19-20, and I Timothy 4:8.

  • Good News
Pastor Tom Grieb and Pastor Ashlee Adkins wrap up our series on the Themes of Christmas.

Emmanuel has come and we have celebrated! It’s easy to get back into the swing of things and in the busyness of life, and the good news of the great joy begins to fade into the background of to-do lists, deadlines, and planning.

The shepherds saw Jesus and left praising and glorifying him – sharing the good news. And it wasn’t because they felt like they had to, but because of a deep transformation that could only be expressed through a change in their lives. This change pointed to the newborn King, the Messiah, the Light of the world.

Once we hear the good news, God offers us the same transformation. It’s a transformation and change that entails glorifying and praising God in all that we do, to all that we meet. It’s a daily choice we make to choose the Kingdom over everything. As we begin a new year, let’s embark on a journey to see what that looks like; a journey to be a people who loves God and loves others by living out the Good News for all to hear.

  • Joy
Pastor Ashlee Adkins continues our series on the Themes of Christmas.

When the angel announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds, he said he brought news of “great joy.” Do we feel that same joy when we celebrate the birth of Christ and throughout the year? This Christmas Day sermon looks into that question and more.

Pastor Tom Grieb continues our Themes of Christmas series.

Jesus is known as the Light of the World. We dig into that concept on Christmas Eve.
