From the very beginning of revelation, God has sought to make himself clearly known. And because of that reality, when we speak of the Holy Trinity it is as a confession of belief and allegiance. More so than merely a theological discussion, what the Christian discovers is that the reality of the Triune God plays out in our lives in a significant way.

Of all the things that our Lord Jesus Christ decided to send to his people, each and every one of you, that you might grow in discipleship and persevere to the end, He sends and gifts the Holy Spirit.

Be firm in your faith. Endure, all the way to the end, and then God “himself will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” This is the promise and call of every Christian. And Peter gives us a 'how-to' in the latter half of his first letter.

The worlds’ answer to evil is violence and vengeance — in some cases, more evil. The Christian’s answer to evil is blessing. The way of the world multiplies evil. The way of the kingdom of God eliminates it. Every Christian should be in the habit of blessing those around us since it is our calling; in this, we receive a blessing as well.

An important paradigm of the Christian faith is submission to authority. Even those under authority are to subject themselves to authority. No one gets a pass, even Christ. But are there exceptions? And what is the purpose? And so we look to the example of Christ as our guide.

God has called us to live a holy life. And this is no small thing. But why, and for what purpose? Today, we continue our series on 1 Peter and discover the answers to these questions.
