Before Pentecost came 10 days of waiting—and how the disciples waited made all the difference.

In this week’s preaching, we look at Acts 1:12–26 and step into the days right after Jesus’ ascension. The disciples didn’t get a detailed plan—they were simply told to wait. What did they do in the waiting? The disciples obeyed Jesus, stayed together in fellowship, prayed together, searched the Scriptures, and sought God’s will with sincerity.

How Christ’s ascension and the Spirit’s power shape our mission today.

In this sermon, we’ll explore:

•The command to wait and the promise to go — Jesus tells His disciples to remain in Jerusalem until they receive the Spirit, reminding us that God’s mission is always fueled by His power, not ours.

• The witness of the Church — Acts 1:8 sets the trajectory for the whole book of Acts: Spirit-filled disciples becoming bold witnesses, carrying the gospel from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth.

• The significance of the ascension of Jesus — Christ’s return to the Father secures His intercession as our High Priest, sends the Spirit to dwell in us, and assures us of His return.

Comparison kills calling—and Christ simply calls us to follow Him.

In this sermon, we’ll explore John 21:15–25, where the risen Jesus restores Peter with three questions of love, commissions him to feed the sheep, and calls him once again to follow. We’ll see how Peter’s tendency to compare himself to John mirrors our own struggles with distraction, and how Jesus’ words redirect us to faithfulness in our own lane.

• We’ll reflect on how Jesus restores failures, transforming our denials into renewed callings.

• We’ll consider why feeding God’s people with the gospel is central to discipleship and ministry today.

• Finally, we’ll hear Christ’s challenge to stop looking sideways at others and instead follow Him with trust, courage, and obedience.

After a night of empty nets, Jesus meets his disciples with a miracle, a meal, and a message of restoration. In John 21:1–14, we see how Christ meets us in our shame and calls us back to himself.

• Why Peter’s shame matters, and what his actions reveal about the weight of sin and guilt

• How Jesus shows himself through repeated acts of grace, not just appearances

• What it means to recognize Christ in seasons when we can’t hear his voice clearly

• The practices—Scripture, prayer, gathering with the church, and fasting—that draw us nearer to him

• The invitation to run toward Jesus with all our brokenness, trusting that he is ready to serve, restore, and call us forward

Believing Without Seeing: The Peace and Power of the Risen Christ

In this sermon, we’ll explore

• The risen Christ appears — Jesus meets His fearful disciples with peace, breathes on them the Spirit, and sends them out with His mission. Thomas’ response, “My Lord and my God,” stands as a powerful declaration of His divinity.

• The blessing of belief — True blessedness isn’t about what we see or possess but about God’s favor toward those who trust in Christ. John reminds us that his Gospel was written "so that we may believe and have life in His name."

• Living out our faith — Belief in Jesus shapes our daily worship: loving our neighbors, practicing hospitality, honoring marriage, caring for the vulnerable, and living with generosity and gratitude.
