PGR contributor Peyton Williams caught up with Salem Greyhound' head football coach Josh Watson to get his thoughts following the Greyhounds' tough 55-9 loss at home against the Wildcats of Harding Academy; the overwhelming favorite to win the AAA Arkansas state championship.
Salem closed out their regular season with a final record of 6-4 and will begin their run into the playoffs next Friday night. The Greyhounds still await to see who their first postseason opponent will be with the postseason play-in games still needing to be played.

The win puts the Greyhounds at 5-3 on the season as they have now won two of their last three games with just two weeks remaining in the regular season. The Greyhounds were originally scheduled to play the Cross County Thunderbirds before the game was postponed, leaving them a regular season finale against the Harding Academy Wildcats and hopes of one more regular season contest.

Salem has split their last six games and now sit at 4-3 on the season with just three games remaining in the 2020 regular season.
The Greyhounds will hit the road next week against the Mountain View Yellow Jackets as they look back to get back to winning ways in hopes of making a deep playoff run in their first year as a member of Arkansas' 3A classification.

The Greyhounds displayed a dominant defensive superiority, defeating the Warriors by a final score of 42-6.
The win for the Greyhounds improves their overall record on the season to 4-2, having split their last four games after opening the season with two consecutive wins. With four weeks remaining in the regular season, Salem will look to continue their winning ways and make a deep run into the postseason.
Salem will remain at home next week to host a "Battle of the Greyhounds." The Newport Greyhounds will come to town as Salem will look to win their third game in the last four weeks.

Coach Watson discussed the concept of never settling and always getting better. His guys are pretty young and need to "grow up" as they have been winless on the road this season despite being undefeated at home.
The Greyhounds now sit at 3-2 as they will return home for the next two weeks. Salem returns home to do battle against the East Poinsett County Warriors.

The loss is the Greyhounds' first defeat of the year and currently sit at 2-1 before they return home next week. Salem will welcome the Riverview Raiders to town as they begin conference play.

On his Senior Night, senior quarterback Gavin Guiltner finished with an efficient 8-11 passing night and adding two touchdowns as well. Sophomore running back Austin Caldwell tacked on 120 yards on the ground and a pair of scores as well. The Greyhounds move to 2-0 and remain undefeated following the win over the Pirates. A handful of injuries leaves a couple question marks ahead of next week when Salem travels for the first time. The Greyhounds will go to Corning and battle the Bobcats for their first road game of the season.
