Routines are one of the most important factors to build into your professional and personal life.
Without them, we are like kites in a storm. We are pulled in every direction and at the mercy of factors out with our control.
The reality is that we are all faced with days where something could go wrong
1. The train is delayed
2. God, forbid you lose or break your computer (where is that coffee cup sitting)
4. You may have some family challenges
5. Or today, you just can't be bothered, or today, you can't be bothered.
It happens to everyone captains of industry, world leader and you.
It can happen more often than we think. Are you monitoring your performance?
I like to start my day off with morning rituals. Some of them are big tasks, journaling takes about 18 minutes, brain dump takes about 9 minutes, reading is always supposed to be ten, and finally, meditation takes another 10 minutes. I will sneak in some brain training games if the diary allows it.
These non-negotiables set the tone for the rest of the working day, it's my catalyst for the day, and I know what my day will look like if I don't. Messy and unproductive.
Next, I have my daily housekeeping tasks that need to be performed.
Posting email management
client relationships
course creation
internal communications
writing up notes
brain dump
By ordering these tasks, I can control the amount of mental and emotional effort employed to get results.
So the next time you feel like you can't be bothered and want to go home or phone it in. Think to yourself. How can I make my day easier and more effective?
Which routines or practices do you use to get the most out of your day?
