  • Speaking on Business: Eye Care for Kids Foundation
This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. EyeCare4Kids makes sure children in underserved communities get the vision care they need. Maggie Cline:
At EyeCare4Kids, our mission is simple: to make sure every child has access to professional eye care and the glasses they need to clearly see their world every day. Since 2001, we’ve provided more than 500,000 vision care services including vision screenings, eye exams, and corrective eyewear, to underserved children and adults in the Southwest United States and Africa.
In Utah, we work with fourteen school districts, maintain two permanent clinics, and send our mobile vision clinic to homeless shelters, refugee centers, Native American reservations, schools, and rural areas, reaching children where they are and removing barriers to care.
Because vision doesn’t wait, neither do we.
Every pair of glasses we provide opens a door to new opportunities — helping children read, learn, and grow with confidence. This Giving Tuesday approaches, please consider supporting EyeCare4Kids by visiting EyeCare4kids.org.

  • Speaking on Business: CRSA
This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. For 50 years, CRSA has shaped communities across Utah and the Intermountain West — from preserving landmarks to designing modern campuses, civic centers, and religious spaces. With a people-first approach, they create environments that connect people and strengthen community. President Roger Hansen, joins us with more.
    Roger Hansen:
At CRSA, we believe that architecture starts with people and our connection to place. We create environments that elevate the human experience by solving complex design challenges with creativity and clarity. For five decades, our architects, interior designers, and planners have helped communities honor their past while designing for the future. Every project reflects thoughtful and intentional design.
Our roots are in historic preservation — revitalizing main streets and restoring the landmarks that shape Utah’s identity. That same respect for heritage now guides our work in civic, higher-education, religious, and commercial projects across the Intermountain West.
Whether it’s the Taylorsville State Office Building, the Manti Temple remodel, or the Davis Tech Welding and Fabrication Building, we design spaces that bring people together, strengthen community, and inspire purpose.

  • Speaking on Business: Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCUtah)
This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Utah has one of the strongest, most
diverse economies in the nation, and that didn’t happen by accident. Ryan
Starks, Executive Director of the Economic Development Corporation of Utah, or EDCUtah, is here to talk about their role in supporting Utah’s economic success.
    Ryan Starks:
EDCUtah is a statewide non-profit organization that catalyzes capital investment
and strategic economic opportunities to create quality jobs in Utah. We work with the State of Utah, cities, counties, and Utah businesses to provide growing companies with the resources they need to relocate or expand in Utah.
When we were founded nearly 40 years ago, Utah was suffering from brain drain,
and EDCUtah was charged with recruiting new companies to diversify Utah’s
    economy and job opportunities.
Each year, our business development team works with just over 100 active corporate expansion projects. This past year, 20 companies decided to expand in or relocate to Utah – with plans to add 3-thousand new jobs and 1.3-billion dollars in capital investment.
Notable project wins include AeroVironment in Salt Lake City, Edwards Lifesciences in Draper City, Fervo Energy in Beaver County, and Nucor in Brigham City. Connect with us on LinkedIn or online at EDCUtah.org.

  • Speaking on Business: YWCA Utah

Through their programs and services, they are fostering a stronger, more connected community. CEO, Liz Owens, joins us with more.
    Liz Owens:
At YWCA Utah, we provide safety, healing, and hope for families rebuilding from violence. Every year, our 24/7 crisis shelter answers thousands of calls and offers more than 70 thousand nights of safety to over 500 survivors.
Families find nourishment with more than 75 thousand meals, stability through 36 deeply affordable apartments, and care that begins in early childhood and extends through the teenage years.
None of this happens alone. Our partnerships with businesses and community leaders make this work possible. When women and families are safe and supported, our entire economy is stronger.
One of the most meaningful ways businesses can get involved right now is through Candy Cane Lane — our annual holiday event that ensures families healing from violence experience the joy and dignity of the season. Through sponsorship, volunteering, and in-kind giving, together we can build a safer, healthier, and prosperous Utah for everyone.
