Jesus in Psalm 57:6

The sermon emphasizes that Jesus Christ is the sole Savior and the exclusive focus of the Christian faith, rejecting any addition of works or human effort to salvation. Drawing primarily from Matthew 17:8 and the epistles of Paul, it argues that true preaching must center entirely on Christ crucified rather than legalistic demands. The text highlights that salvation is a gift of grace received through God-given faith, not earned by merit or religious performance. It further illustrates the supremacy of knowing Christ over all worldly knowledge and religious prestige, citing Paul's desire to count everything as loss for the sake of winning Christ. Hosea was the prophet of God's zero hour. For their rebellion against God and their awful sin, the Northern Kingdom was about to be overrun by the Assyrians and its people taken into captivity. Hosea, the 8th century BCE prophet, whose painful personal life was like a metaphor for God's relationship with a straying Israel, once again appeals to them to come to repentance. Note the text "O Israel you have destroyed yourself. But in Me is your help." The nation had dug its own grave. But there was still help. That help was only in God himself. We can see ourselves here. Our sinfulness has brought us under God's wrath. But there is help in Him. In love, He sent His own Son. Our salvation is through Him becoming our substitute and through the Spirit gift of the Son, giving us power to be different.
