Salvis Unidos Podcast

This season we're bringing you more things than ever! Our mission has always been to find ways to connect Salvadorans everywhere and we've been hard at work to find ways to make that happen.

First, we have a brand new Discord server for Salvis Unidos. Discord servers are community spaces where you can chat with friends and like-minded people. Join the conversation and stay in touch with other Salvis on our server!

We're also bringing back our world Salvis stories for this season! We are searching for Salvadorans in the furthest reaches of the globe and we can't wait to share all the amazing stories we find!

This season, we're also collaborating with Guanaco To English! Every episode we'll feature a new word in Caliche from Guanaco To English illustrated dictionary. Listen and learn new Salvi slang!

Lastly and most importantly, we are now on Patreon. Patreon is a platform where you can support content creators. We want to grow Salvis Unidos and we want to support the Salvadoran musicians that let us use their work on the show. We also want to hire Salvadoran talent to help us with production and graphic design. But we need your help. Your donations will help us support the Salvadoran community in ways we never dreamed possible.

We hope our podcast helps you feel closer to other Salvadorans. Maybe you'll find a new favorite artist or a new small business to support. Maybe you'll make a new friend. At the very least, we hope you walk away with pride and renewed love for El Salvador and all its people.

Ana Margarita Gasteazoro fue una activista, militante, y organizadora durante la Guerra Civil de El Salvador. Cuenta su historia en el libro "Diganle a mi Madre que estoy en el Paraíso." Falleció en los 90s pero su amiga Judy Blankenship guardó su historia y con la ayuda de MUPI, Tania Primavera, y otros, publicaron su libro en español en 2019 y en inglés en 2022. Hablamos del proceso de publicar el libro y de la importancia de resaltar historias de mujeres en la guerra.

Some of us are lucky to have a mom or an abuelita to teach us how to cook food from home. For the rest of us, there's "Delicious El Salvador," an award-winning Salvadoran cookbook by Alicia Maher. Alicia's mission is to preserve our culture and teach the next generation of the diaspora that our food can compete on a world stage.

Alicia was born in Santa Ana, El Salvador and moved to Los Angeles when she was 19. She learned to cook from her mother, grandmother, aunts and friends. She is an award-winning author, a food historian, a cooking instructor, and most of all, a proud Salvadorena.
