Thank you so much for tuning in for Episode 1 of "Macawiis Mondays"
Notes, corrections and examples:
* The video became more about politenesses in Somali rather than saying 'please'.
1) I gave the term 'fadlan' which is close to the English word 'Please' and is usually used at the beginning of sentences ("Fadlan hal saxan - One dish please").
2) As expected, Tuugaa has nothing to do with 'shooting' anyone... rather it's the verb 'To beg' and is synonymous with the word 'barayaa'.
So "waan ku tuugaa" and "waan ku barayaa" are both correct and literally mean "I beg you".
3) Use "Ma + (Infinitive of any verb) + kartaa" to say "Can you (verb)".
For example: (Cunto ma sameyn kartaa? - Can you make food?) / (Ma i Caawin Kartaa? - Can you help me?)
