I recorded the original 5-part series, "How I Learned to Deal with Same-Sex Attraction Biblically," on May 3- 4.  I recorded this episode on September 7 with this in mind: "The ear can handle only what the seat can endure," as I did in the previous episode. I guess that I am really a long-winded preacher without people in front of me. I have preached so many sermons in the shower, metaphorically and tongue-in-cheek, that holy water comes out of the spigot.  So, I pray that the truth that I was taught and share in this episode will not be shrouded by "too long of an episode." I've decided to record abridged versions of the lengthy episodes I've recorded:  "the ear can handle" only what "the seat can endure." This episode is the first: "The Gay Christian, Up-Side Down Kingdom Bible, and Preston Sprinkle" (May 29-30).  I first learned about Sprinkle on Jon Harris's YouTube podcast, "Conversations that Matter," which aired the documentary "Cru's LGBTQ+ Teaching Series." Cru, formerly Campus Crusade for Christ, hired Sprinkle to train its staff on how to reach out to the LGBTQ+ community; he named the curriculum "Compassionate and Faithful."  The documentary exposed the damage Sprinkle caused through the very words of Cru's staff. I mentioned one in particular in this episode; what she said is proof of the damage that is caused by believing what Sprinkle teaches: the lie that there are straight people, gay people, straight Christians, and gay Christians. You can find other YouTube videos showing how Sprinkle's teaching affected Cru; one features a married couple who were fired for opposing Sprinkle's teachings. Ideas don't pop up out of nowhere. They have a starting point.  This history lesson I unpack in this episode begins in 1946, the starting point of the gay Christian idea (a heresy), with a timeline added: the framework within evangelicalism that steadily and unknowingly resulted in far too many Christians identifying themselves as a gay Christian - including pastors, Christian counselors, and directors of parachurch ministries who have bought into this heresy, many with good intentions but with a lack of understanding about biblical sanctification. In many ways, the idea of the gay Christian is the bitter fruit that grew in that vacuum. I say this not to condemn but as someone who has experienced that bitter fruit: the reigning idol of LGBTQ+ is that bitter fruit in action. If ever there was a need for modern-day sons of Issachar (1 Chronicles 12:32) to discern the times within evangelicalism and reform it, now is that day. On April 17 and 18, 2024, I recorded "A Prodigal Comes Home" - my personal journey. Of the many episodes I've recorded, they have received the most downloads. On April 29, 2026, I recorded "My Journey to Becoming a Prodigal." It has also received many downloads. The interest is "out there."  This is their abridged version, for men and women who served in Christian ministry and became prodigals, as I did: often a symptom of burnout and neglecting our personal spiritual growth, even not knowing how to go about it.  In this episode, if you are recovering, I take you to Romans 8:28-39 as the "medicine" for your healing; and if you are still a prodigal, why you can step out of your "personal pigpen" (Luke 15: 11-32) and come home to your Father who waits for you.  I am speaking from how applying these amazing verses in my life healed me. On May 25th, I recorded "Taking a Beloved Scripture out of Context: John 3:16" (check it out). That's what I had done with Romans 8:28: "God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." I stopped there, as I had done with John 3:16.  I should have interpreted 8:28 in light of Romans 8:1 and 8:29-39.  Synthesizing these verses as a whole, and all of Romans Chapter 8, taught me how to let go of my regret. If you are haunted by regret, please drench yourself in all of Romans 8. God takes our regret and works it for good: the freedom Jesus' blood paid for and for His glory. Don't shortchange yourself of what Jesus has done for you, as I used to do.  Does it hurt Him? It must. Because He loves us. Please check out "What Gave me the Audacity to Record this Podcast?" - especially if God is calling you to minister to His church, or you are there already. It's the forerunner to this episode. I believe living our lives in Romans 8 is the authenticity people sense coming from the pulpit, pastoral care, what they read in Christian books and blogs, and what they hear on Christian podcasts.  If the church ever needed authentic biblical ministry from those who live it in their personal lives, now is the day.
