Sylvia returns to the house of her youth only to clash with Nanna over dinner. Nanna discovers Sylvia's golden ticket and tries to destroy it in a fit of anger. 

In Railways West, Iron Rose is struggling to accept her new "handle". She encounters Derail, a fellow tramp sent by Mister Slip Shady to get her to safety while Detective Black Jack Boyle looms closely behind.

Mickey walks Sylvia home as she tries to explain that she is not the same person he thinks she is. Nanna is at their house waiting for her arrival and not pleased, as usual.

Sylvia enters into the world of Hickory Springs in 1959. She is in her thirteen year old body with her sixty-three year old mind. Mickey and George take her to the Bee-Hive Diner to figure out why she is acting so strange. Her childhood nemesis, Cancer, catches her alone eager to settle an old score. Sylvia is feeling as if she not up to the task of beating Cancer and saving Mickey. 

In Railways West, Rose is now a fugitive of the law. She meets Mister Slip Shady and his imaginary dog, Cholly, who tells her that Black Jack Boyle will stop at nothing until she is captured. Slip Shady tells arms her with the hobo code and her new name...Iron Rose.

Sylvia arrives in Hickory Springs to discover that it is a wasteland frozen in time on Halloween 1959. She gets some courage from Iron Rose in the pages of Railways West ,the mysterious diary she found on the train. A vicious tornado tears up the wasteland and chases Sylvia into the tunnel that will take her back to her youth in yesteryear.

Sylvia boards the Hickory Springs Express and discovers a mysterious diary while she meets Conductor Gabriel, who gives her a life review upon her final journey home.
