During this hour, we will be joined by some of the organizers that helped create YLA to briefly discuss why and how it was created. This will be followed up by a panel of current and former youth who will share their experience with Pride’s Youth Programs.

Learn more about Lambda Archives and why collecting and preserving our history is a social justice issue. The mission of the Lambda Archives of San Diego is to collect, preserve, and share the history of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people in San Diego, Northern Baja California and Imperial County region.

Hello Trans/GNC Community and Allies! To keep everyone safe, we weren't able to bring our community together in celebration for Transgender Day of Empowerment in April. However, founder Tracie Jada O'Brien felt it was important to honor the individuals who would have received awards for their gifts of time and talent to the community. Join us for the San Diego Transgender Day of Empowerment Honors with Tracie Jada O'Brien as we celebrate trans excellence and honor our #TDOE awardees. We'll be announcing our awardees for the following awards: Youth Award, Community Service Award, and Special Recognition Award.

Every year, San Diego Pride accepts nominations from the community for the annual presentations of the Spirit of Stonewall Awards. The awards recognize individuals who contribute significantly to the LGBTQ community through their leadership, activism, and fundraising efforts. Inspirational Relationship: A friendship, familial bond, or intimate relationship whose love, strength, work, and commitment to LGBTQ equality embodies the humanity of our community. Our 2020 Spirit of Stonewall Inspirational Relationship award goes to Joyce Marieb & Linda Barufaldi. Introduction: Joyce and Linda were born a block and a half from each other in a small town in Western Massachusetts. While friends, their eight year age difference kept them in different circles until they were both graduate students in theology/philosophy in Boston. By then, their ages made much less difference, and they fell in love. Both had worked separately and continued to work together politically regarding civil rights, the peace movement, Second Wave feminism, LGBTQ issues, poverty, electoral politics, anti-racism education, and environmental, and immigration issues. They have never met a fight for justice they didn’t like.

Stonewall Champion of Pride Award: An individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the LGBT community over an extended period of years with consideration to service to San Diego Pride. Our 2020 Spirit of Stonewall Stonewall Champion of Pride award goes to Bixby Marino-Kibbee. Introduction: Bixby Marino-Kibbee is a queer, non-binary trans person and a licensed clinical social worker. They are the Program Director for the Center for Gender-Affirming Care at Rady Children’s Hospital. They have also worked in mental healthcare for the past fifteen years. Bixby was born and raised in San Diego but spent ten years living and working on the East Coast in Virginia and in Boston before moving back to San Diego in 2011. As a mental health clinician, Bixby has worked with individuals across the lifespan in a variety of settings.

Stonewall Philanthropy Award: A group or organization which may or may not identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender, but which has diligently raised funds to support the LGBT community over an extended period of years and/or has made an exceptional contribution in the past year. Our 2020 Spirit of Stonewall Stonewall Philanthropy award goes to John Ealy. Introduction: John Ealy is the owner of a restaurant group that includes a local San Diego restaurant in Mission Hills, Harley Gray Kitchen & Bar. A large part of his intention with opening Harley Gray was to be a bigger participant and influence in the community and particularly in the LGBTQ community of which he is a proud member. Philanthropy and giving back have been a part of his personal and business life from the beginning when he opened his first restaurant at the age of 24.

The tech sector is known for its innovation and its disruption of traditional modes of free market operation. But, what does that mean for the employees that work within the tech sector? We take a look at the tech sector in San Diego and the way that people who live at the intersections of marginalized identities have contributed and engaged in it to achieve equality within their companies. David Whittaker of Qualcomm will host a panel of wonderful LGBTQ employees from top tech sector companies that are engaging locally.
