Today we pause and reflect on the Christmas story. The birth of Jesus changed everything and we must always seek to hear the story with new ears and tender hearts.

When Joseph hears about the baby that Mary is carrying he is naturally skeptical and scared. The angel Gabriel visits Joseph in a dream and Joseph responds in obedience. In the process Joseph teaches all of us about obedience.

When Zechariah becomes a father he bursts into praise blessing God for who what he has done in sending one to rescue us from our enemies. Today we will see how we can praise God, even when it seems like he isn't at work.

Mary erupts into praise in a song called "The Magnificat." Mary teaches us that in order to worship God our souls must magnify who God in order to make everything else seem small by comparison. 

The angel Gabriel tells Mary that she will carry the Messiah, and in doing so, he communicates what Jesus will do and who he will be.

Matthew begins his Gospel with a genealogy of Jesus. In this section of Scripture that so many people skip over, Matthew outlines for us the good news that Jesus came to bring. 

Concluding our study of Christmas through the lens of the Old Testament we look at where the Messiah would be born and why it was so important for us to know.

Continuing our study of Christmas from the perspective of the Old Testament we look at Isaiah's prophecy to see more than what the Messiah would do, but to get a better understanding of who He is.

Continuing our look at Christmas through the lens of the Old Testament, today we investigate the prophecy that the Messiah would be born of a virgin and explore the necessity of the virgin birth.

As we continue a week of looking at Christmas through the lens of the Old Testament we look at what it means that Jesus is a King and what kind of a King he would be.
