The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) in the Western Cape has expressed concern over the provincial government's decision to close several taxi routes. As of today, several taxi routes will be closed for 30 days due to ongoing violence and instability in the public transport sector. SANTACO has expressed concern over the impact on taxi operators' livelihoods and related businesses but acknowledged the measure's intent to safeguard lives.
