“Sometimes it takes becoming confident and growing into yourself to realize the full story,” says Sara Stewart Stevens, Program Director at Textiles and Apparel Program at the University of Texas at Austin. Sara obtained her degree in Environmental Geography from the University of Oklahoma, and thought her post-grad path would lead to working in water rights in Central America. While job searching in Austin, she ended up helping a friend open the first high-end women's fitness apparel boutique in the city. This experience led her into buying, wholesale, and eventually getting her masters in Textiles and Apparel Technology at the University of Texas. Listen along as Sara shares her incredible journey - from beating cancer to plans of opening a retail lab at UT, as well as the work she’s doing with artisans and makers in Pakistan. You will feel nothing short of extremely inspired after listening.
