Anyway! Thank you for all your support, for every download, share, and discussion. My guests have been so wonderful and gracious, and it’s been a whirlwind of a year. I started mid-January and made an episode every week while finishing my last three semesters of grad school, moving to another city, starting a new job, and getting through a pandemic. None of that means much unless you’re listening. So, from the bottom of my humbled Texan heart: thank you. ⁣

Hey y’all, welcome back to another episode of the ‘cast! We’re keepin’ it short and sweet this week as we prepare to enter the fourth and last week of Advent!⁣

On today’s episode I read an excerpt from the Office of Readings, which comes from the Epistle of Mathetes to Diognetus. These letters were written in the Early Church (2nd century) to Diognetus, who was the Emperor Marcus Aurelius’ tutor! ⁣

What a beautiful reading to reflect on about the mystery of God’s salvific plan for us, His immeasurable love, and unending mercy!⁣

Martin Luther added and subtracted to the Holy Bible to suit his personal beliefs, he suffered from hemorrhoids, heart disease, emotional and psychological trauma from an extremely abusive childhood, chronic constipation, and bladder stones. Worst of all, he never felt as though God had truly forgiven him. The uncertainty he felt and the scrupulosity under which he suffered led him to (rather than reform the Church, which it truly needed) to completely revolt from it. He began his priestly life deeply devoted to Our Blessed Mother, but couldn’t comprehend the gift of grace, and ended up being a staunch opponent of Immaculate Conception. ⁣

Poor misguided, sickly Martin Luther. Unfortunately, many intelligent people who break away from the Church wind up so far away they completely lose sight of reality. So, what was his theology? Faith and not works saves you, the Bible is all you need, and Christ alone suffices. The problem with this?⁣

𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘢 𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴 (𝘍𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦) ⁣

You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.⁣

There are also many other things that Jesus did, but if these were to be described individually, I do not think the whole world would contain the books that would be written.⁣

And lastly, if Christ alone saves, what about the Holy Spirit, and Our Heavenly Father?⁣

Christ founded the Catholic Church! ⁣

And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.⁣

Notice how Jesus didn’t say, “And that Church is gonna split off in 1,500 years,” or “But everything we do for the first 1,500 years is gonna be practice, but the real deal starts when Luther’s hemorrhoids flare up.”⁣

Ahh, the Protestant Reformation. Or should we call it the Protestant Revolution? ⁣

⁣

A simple lesson in history explains what was going on in the Catholic Church at the time, and one very unstable, unhealthy Catholic priest (pro trip: it’s Martin Luther) decided to start is own religion. 𝘐𝘯 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤. Those who read what the early Church Fathers (AKA the apostles to the Apostles) did, believed, preached, and how they lived...become Catholic. ⁣

I’ve been putting off recording this episode of the ‘cast for a while now. Not because I was afraid to speak openly about the Catholic Church’s teaching on human sexuality, but because something about recording it makes my apostolate more real. I don’t know if that makes any sense, but here goes nothin’! ⁣

On today’s episode we talk about sex. Human sexuality. Our desires. What they mean, why we have them, and their proper order. These aren’t easy sayings to hear, who can understand them? You alone, Lord, have the words of everlasting life! ⁣

So, let’s take a minute and listen to some human sexuality according to the Church 101. Maybe, just maybe, you might learn a little something. You are a gift, one that ought to be cherished and honored, all the days of your life!⁣
