Saskatchewan Economic Development Alliance Paths to Prosperity episodes

  • Economic Ecosystem through the Indigenous Lens

What does economic reconciliation look like when we move beyond conversation and into action?

In this episode of Paths to Prosperity, host Crystal Froese sits down with Milton Tootoosis, SREDA’s Senior Advisor of Indigenous Economic Reconciliation. Raised on Poundmaker Cree Nation, Milton has built a career in community economic development and leadership and currently serves as Chair of the Saskatchewan Indigenous Economic Development Network.

Milton challenges us to think about what he calls “reconcili-action” — moving beyond words and symbolism toward meaningful economic participation, ownership and opportunity.

The conversation explores equity and ownership, building trust, regional collaboration, and what becomes possible when First Nations, municipalities, businesses and economic development leaders work together as part of the same economic ecosystem.

A powerful conversation about relationships, shared opportunity and building stronger economic ecosystems together.

Paths to Prosperity is a platform for exploring how communities can build resilient, inclusive, and future‑ready economies.

Through thought leadership, practical insights, and conversations with leaders from across Saskatchewan and beyond, Paths to Prosperity examines the forces shaping local and regional economies—and the choices communities can make to navigate change with confidence.

Our focus is on what works, what’s emerging, and what leaders should be thinking about now.

  • What Municipalities Can and Can't Carry in and Economic Ecosystem

How much can we really expect municipalities to carry?

Because ecosystems aren’t sustained by alignment alone — they’re sustained when everyone takes ownership and carries their part.

  • Industry as an Ecosystem Builder: From Participant to Partner in Regional Growth

What if the businesses already in your community are the key to unlocking its economic future?

Too often, we think of industry as employers, taxpayers, or sponsors. But what if their greatest contribution hasn't happened yet?

In this episode of Paths to Prosperity, Crystal Froese explores how industry can become a true partner in building stronger regional economic ecosystems—developing talent, strengthening local supply chains, driving innovation, and helping communities thrive.

If we want stronger regional economies, maybe the question isn't "How do we attract more industry?" It's "How do we engage the industry we already have to build what comes next?"

Whether you're an economic development professional, business leader, elected official, or community builder, this episode will challenge you to think differently about collaboration—and the future of Saskatchewan.
