Ozempic & Mounjaro: Five Years Later, I'm Ready to Talk About ItSassy Chanelle Podcast | Hosted by Christi Chanelle
It started in 2021 when I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Then this crazy little word called Ozempic entered my world.
Five years later, I'm ready to talk about it.
The weight loss. The weight gain. The plateaus. The frustration. And everything nobody really prepares you for when you start taking GLP-1 medications.
This week on the Sassy Chanelle Podcast, I'm getting personal about my five-year journey with Ozempic and Mounjaro.
You've probably heard the incredible weight-loss success stories. You've seen the before-and-after pictures. But what happens when your experience doesn't look like everyone else's?
What happens when you've been taking these medications for years and you're still struggling?
I'm sharing my experience, what I've learned along the way, and why I'm working with my doctor to try something different.
And this conversation doesn't end here!
I'll be checking back in this January with an update on my progress, my experience with the new treatment, and whether anything has changed.
No filters. No miracle promises. Just my experience.
🎙️ IN THIS EPISODE
❤️ LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!
Have you tried Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovy, or another GLP-1 medication?
Did you lose weight? Hit a plateau? Gain weight back? Or experience something completely different?
I want to hear your story!
This is a judgment-free conversation about real experiences, because there is no one-size-fits-all journey when it comes to our health.

5 Ways to Protect Yourself
A morning walk. A parking garage. A night out with friends. Everyday situations can raise questions about our safety—and we deserve to feel more prepared.
This week on Sassy Chanelle, we’re talking about five ways women can take a more active role in protecting themselves. From lighting and personal alarms to defensive spray, emergency phone features, and training, we’re looking at practical options and why knowing how to use them matters.
We also talk about drink safety and looking out for each other when we’re out with friends. The goal is to start conversations, ask better questions, and make informed decisions about what works for you.

A note about your safety:
Do your own research—don’t just take my word for it. Your safety is your responsibility, and I’m here to be a guide and get the conversation started. I’m sharing information for general awareness, not professional safety or legal advice. Check local laws, research any product’s limitations, and seek qualified instruction before relying on a self-defense tool. No product or precaution can guarantee your safety. And being responsible for your choices never means you’re to blame for someone else’s harmful actions.
See you next Wednesday...and that’s just my perspective.

We're strong. We're independent. We're dependable. And we're exhausted from being everybody's everything.
For years, women have been praised for doing it all. Raising families, managing careers, keeping households running, planning every gathering, and somehow making it look effortless.
But here's my question: When did being capable become an agreement to handle everything forever?
In this episode of Sassy Chanelle, we're talking about the expectations placed on women, especially Gen X women, and why so many of us are finally saying, "Enough."
Inspired by a viral video of a mother carrying her baby and an armful of food at a baseball game, we're questioning society's obsession with celebrating women as superwomen instead of asking whether they need a little help.
We're getting into the invisible workload, motherhood, menopause, friendships, family responsibilities, and the guilt that sometimes comes with setting boundaries.
Because being the strong one doesn't mean you never need support.
And saying NO doesn't mean you stopped caring.
We're not giving up on the people we love. We're making room for ourselves, too.
It's time to stop apologizing for having boundaries, needing a break, or simply wanting an afternoon where nobody needs anything from us.
And ladies, sometimes the answer really is: ASK SOMEONE ELSE!
💋 Let's talk about it!
What's one responsibility everyone automatically expects you to handle that you're ready to hand over?
Drop it in the comments. I want to hear from you!

CONTROL: PART 1 — RELIGION
How do you control women?
For generations, one of the most powerful tools has been religion—or more specifically, the way religion has been interpreted, taught, and weaponized by men to define what women should be, how we should behave, what we should tolerate, and how much power we're allowed to have.
In Part 1 of this three-part series, I'm talking about the difference between faith and control.
Because believing in God and questioning the men who claim to speak for God are not the same thing.
We're talking about submission. Obedience. Purity. Marriage. Leadership. Shame. And the messages women have heard for generations about being quieter, smaller, more agreeable, and more willing to accept male authority.
And we're asking a question that deserves to be asked:
When does religion stop being about faith and start being used as a system of control?
This isn't an attack on Christianity, religion, churches, or people of faith. It's a conversation about power—and what happens when religious teachings or institutions are used to justify limiting women's autonomy, voices, choices, or equality.
And this is only Part 1.
COMING NEXT — CONTROL: PART 2
Religion isn't the only mechanism that can be used to control women.
In Episode 2, we're moving into the second form of control used by men—and looking at how that power shows up in women's everyday lives, relationships, and independence.
Then in Part 3, we'll put the pieces together.

Seven men named in a civil lawsuit. A fraternity Snapchat chat. A woman who says she was sexually assaulted. And a question we need to ask: What about her future?
In this episode, I discuss a former Cornell student’s allegations of sexual assault and drugging at the Chi Phi fraternity house, the Snapchat messages described in her lawsuit, and the questions surrounding Cornell’s response.
But this conversation goes beyond the seven defendants. What responsibility do people have when they recognize that someone might be in danger? When does loyalty to your friends become an excuse to look away?
I also share my own experience of sexual assault at 19. Because before anyone asks why she was drinking or why she went there, hear this: drinking is not permission. Trusting someone is not permission. Being unable to fight back is not permission.
Women deserve safety, support, and a future that matters just as much as anyone else’s.
In this episode:
The seven named defendants
The seven current or former students named as defendants in the civil lawsuit, as reported by The Cornell Daily Sun, are:
These are defendants facing civil allegations, not a list of criminal convictions.

Content warning and disclaimer
This episode contains explicit language and discussion of sexual assault and drugging.
Recorded September 27, 2026. This episode presents Christi Chanelle’s personal opinions and commentary on a pending civil lawsuit and reporting available at the time of recording. The allegations are contested and are not established findings of guilt. An attorney for defendant Scott Kretzschmar has denied the allegations against his client.
No criminal charges had been filed at the time of recording. On September 28, 2026, the Tompkins County district attorney announced the investigation would reopen.
Discussion of bystander responsibility does not establish what any unnamed Snapchat participant knew, witnessed, or did. Membership in a group chat alone does not establish wrongdoing.

What if the person everyone else thinks is wonderful is the person making you question your own sanity?
This week on Sassy Chanelle, we're talking about narcissism — but we're also turning the mirror around.
What does narcissistic behavior actually look like? When is someone showing a concerning pattern, and when are we taking completely normal human emotions — jealousy, defensiveness, insecurity, selfishness — and turning them into a diagnosis?
Because sometimes the problem really is the other person.
And sometimes… we need to take a good look at ourselves.
In this episode, I share some of my own experience with relationships that left me walking on eggshells, second-guessing myself and wondering whether I was the problem. We talk about the red flags I've learned to pay attention to, including:
This isn't about diagnosing your partner, your ex, your mother, your friend — or yourself.
I'm not a psychologist or therapist, and narcissistic personality disorder is a clinical diagnosis that belongs with qualified professionals.
This conversation is about recognizing recurring patterns, examining how our relationships affect us, and being willing to ask the uncomfortable question:
What am I contributing to this relationship, too?
Because self-awareness isn't an accusation.
It's information.

Was Dolly Parton a feminist? A liberal? A conservative?
Or was she simply Dolly?
We love putting people into boxes. We decide what someone believes, which side they're on, and whether they're one of “us” or one of “them.”
But Dolly Parton spent a lifetime making that almost impossible.
She championed women without necessarily embracing the feminist label. She supported the LGBTQ+ community. She put books into the hands of millions of children. She built an extraordinary business empire, held onto her independence, talked about her faith, protected her private life, and somehow managed to stand for things without constantly telling the rest of us what we should believe.
But that's only part of why I wanted to talk about her.
Because there's another question I've been thinking about:
Why can losing someone we've never met hurt so much?
In this episode of Sassy Chanelle, we're talking about the Dolly behind the rhinestones. Jolene. 9 to 5. I Will Always Love You. Hard Candy Christmas. Her business instincts, women's empowerment, politics, the Imagination Library, the labels people tried to give her, and her determination to remain exactly who she was.
I'm also talking about my own memories of Dolly: how Hard Candy Christmas connects me to my mom and childhood Christmases, what I Will Always Love You once meant during a breakup, and why a trip I already had planned to see Dolly's story on Broadway now means something entirely different.
Maybe that's what was so unusual about Dolly Parton.
People with completely different beliefs could look at her and see something they recognized.
But none of us get to claim her.
And maybe that's exactly why all of us could love her.
Anyway, that's just my perspective.

Hayden Panettiere was only 36 years old, but the more I learned about her life, the more I realized how much of her story I never knew.
I started listening to Hayden’s memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, narrated by Hayden herself, and then I went down the rabbit hole.
Her childhood in Hollywood. Remember the Titans. Heroes. Fame. Relationships. Motherhood. Addiction. The people surrounding her. The things she survived. And the decisions she made when her life became complicated.
Then there is everything that happened after the book.
In this episode of Sassy Chanelle, we’re talking about Hayden’s story, the headlines surrounding her death, the unanswered questions, and why listening to her tell her own story changed the way I saw her.
This isn’t about reducing Hayden Panettiere to the way her life ended.
It’s about understanding the woman who lived it.

Sassy Politics gave me a community, helped me find my voice, and taught me how to stand up for what I believe in. But politics was never all of me.

Nolan Wells was 18 years old. My son Trevor turned 18 last week.
After hearing the recording from the boat, I couldn’t move on to either of the other episodes I had planned. The chaos in the background, Nolan’s friends screaming, and the realization that an ordinary day at the lake could become the worst day of a family’s life stayed with me.
In this episode, I talk about what it feels like to raise a child for 18 years, teach them everything you can, and then somehow find the courage to let them go. I also discuss the unanswered questions surrounding Nolan’s death, his family’s continued search for answers, and the people helping keep attention on his case.
Nolan was more than a headline. He was an athlete, a young man with plans, and somebody’s son.
My heart is with the Wells family as they continue fighting for the truth.
Rest in peace, Nolan Wells.
