esus Christus ist der Sohn Gottes und der Retter, den wir brauchen. Markus 1,1–13 zeigt, wie sein öffentlicher Dienst vorbereitet wird: Johannes der Täufer ruft zur Umkehr, Jesus lässt sich im Jordan taufen, und anschließend wird er in der Wüste von Satan versucht. Diese Predigt aus der fortlaufenden Auslegung des Markus-Evangeliums in der Bekennenden Evangelischen Gemeinde Cottbus macht deutlich, warum das Evangelium eine frohe Botschaft ist: In Jesus Christus gibt es Vergebung der Sünden und neues Leben. Johannes weist über sich selbst hinaus auf den kommenden Herrn. Er ruft dazu auf, Sünde zu bekennen und zu Gott umzukehren. Religiöse Zugehörigkeit und äußere Formen können die Erneuerung durch Christus nicht ersetzen. Bei Jesu Taufe spricht der Vater sein Wohlgefallen über den Sohn aus, und der Heilige Geist kommt auf ihn herab. Jesus beginnt seinen Dienst in der Kraft des Geistes. In der anschließenden Versuchung bleibt er gehorsam und widersteht Satan. Was bedeutet das für unseren Glauben und unsere Nachfolge? Wüstenzeiten und Prüfungen zeigen uns, wie sehr wir auf Christus angewiesen sind. Geistliche Kraft bewährt sich auch in den verborgenen Entscheidungen des Alltags. Wenn wir fallen, dürfen wir zu Jesus zurückkehren und seine Hilfe suchen, statt uns mit der Sünde abzufinden. Der abschließende Blick auf Hebräer 4,14–16 ermutigt dazu, vertrauensvoll zu Christus zu kommen: Er kennt unsere Schwachheit, wurde selbst versucht und blieb ohne Sünde. Bei ihm finden wir Barmherzigkeit und Gnade zur rechtzeitigen Hilfe.
