  • 1 John 5:18-21 • Satan Can't Touch You Without a Permission Slip
1 John 5:18-21 — Satan cannot lay a finger on a child of God without a permission slip signed in heaven. These are the five closing certainties of 1 John. This expository preaching message closes our verse-by-verse series through the book of 1 John, working through five certainties packed into the final four verses: we don't live in sin, we are kept, we know whose side we're on, we know the Son has come, and we know Him that is true. If you've ever wondered about your assurance of salvation — if guilt has convinced you that one bad week disqualifies you, or fear has convinced you that Satan can do whatever he wants to you — this message settles both. Your standing is sealed. Your walk is still your own to guard. This is verse-by-verse exposition, not topical commentary. The text moves from what "sinneth not" actually means, into the doctrine of eternal security versus self-keeping, into Satan's limits under God's permission, and finally into the highest declaration made about Jesus Christ anywhere in the letter — "This is the true God and eternal life." This expository preaching message through 1 John explains: - What "born of God sinneth not" really means (it's not sinless perfection) - The difference between being kept by God and keeping your own walk - Why Satan cannot touch a believer without permission (Job 1-2) - What it means that "the whole world lieth in wickedness" - Four things Christ's coming gave every believer - Why the least-lettered believer has understanding the world's wisest don't - The highest title given to Jesus Christ in the entire letter - The closing warning: "keep yourselves from idols"

  • Are Monitoring Spirits Biblical?
Are monitoring spirits taught in Scripture? In this episode of NAR to Christ, Dawn Hill examines popular deliverance teachings concerning monitoring spirits and compares those claims with the Word of God. She considers teachings from Ryan LeStrange and Tiffany Buckner, including claims that monitoring spirits work through people, jealousy, procrastination, relationships, and other circumstances. Dawn explains why the biblical reality of Satan and spiritual warfare does not establish the modern doctrine of monitoring spirits. She also warns that such teaching can create fear, suspicion, and an unhealthy focus on demonic activity. Rather than demonizing people or interpreting ordinary struggles as evidence of demonic spirits, Christians are called to submit to God, resist the devil, trust God's sovereignty, and rest in the sufficiency of Scripture. Believers in Christ have been delivered from the domain of darkness, sealed by the Holy Spirit, and equipped by God to stand firm in biblical spiritual warfare. • Walking Worthy
The sermon explores the practical application of Christian faith by examining Ephesians 4:1-3, which calls believers to walk worthy of their calling. The preacher outlines four essential characteristics for this walk: humility, which involves recognizing all value comes from God; meekness, defined as power under control and self-discipline in reactions; long-suffering, or patience extended to others through forgiveness; and labor, the diligent effort required to maintain unity within the church. These virtues are presented not as optional traits but as necessary outcomes of understanding one's position in Christ. The message emphasizes that maintaining spiritual unity requires active resistance against pride and Satan's attempts to disrupt fellowship. Ultimately, the text urges believers to consciously practice these attitudes to reflect Christ-like behavior in their daily interactions.

  • Who Is Satan? Understanding the Enemy and His Schemes
Satan is real, but he is not equal with God. He is neither all-powerful nor sovereign. Scripture presents him as a created and limited adversary who opposes God, attacks the truth, and works primarily through deception. In this episode of Contending for the Word Q&A, Dave Jenkins considers what the Bible teaches about Satan and his schemes. Drawing from John 8:44 and 2 Corinthians 11:14, Dave explains Satan's character as a liar, his use of deception, and why Scripture warns that he can disguise himself as an angel of light. Christians should neither ignore Satan nor exaggerate his power. Instead, believers are called to remain alert, exercise biblical discernment, and stay firmly grounded in the truth of God's Word. Satan is real, but he is limited. God alone is sovereign, and Christians can face spiritual warfare with clarity rather than fear because Christ and His grace are sufficient. • Glorious Redemption
The sermon presents the gospel of redemption as a divine purchase where Jesus Christ pays the ultimate price for human sin through His sacrificial death. It contrasts the bondage of slavery to Satan and the justice of God against humanity with the freedom found only in trusting Christ's finished work. Using the metaphor of Hosea buying back his unfaithful wife, the message illustrates God's initiative in rescuing sinners from their self-imposed captivity and spiritual death. The preacher emphasizes that salvation is a free gift received by simple faith, not earned by religious effort or human goodness. Ultimately, the text calls listeners to recognize their desperate need for this two-fold deliverance from both divine wrath and demonic power through belief in Jesus.
