Thy Art is Murder made headlines yesterday when Chris McMahon was fired from the band, and it was announced that he would no longer be appearing on their new album. Now, McMahon has doubled down on his stance and made a statement about not being sorry and his frustration with the band. This happened on release day for the new record, Godlike. They pushed the release date back one week to yesterday, and now we know why. They rerecorded it last minute with a brand new vocalist, a fact McMahon learned along with the rest of the world via social media.

Steve Harwell, the founding lead singer of the rock band Smash Mouth, died Monday, according to his manager. Harwell had been receiving hospice care over the weekend following liver problems. He died at his home in Boise, Idaho, with family and friends by his side, according Robert Hayes, the manager of Smash Mouth.

An anti-LGBTQ+ bomb threat led to the evacuation and re-location of a drag queen story hour in Princeton, New Jersey. The event was held at the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice, a community activist center. However, the threats didn't scare anyone and the event happened anyway.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy’s administration has sued three school districts for adopting policies to tell parents if their children identifies as LGBTQ. The lawsuits, filed Wednesday by Attorney General Matt Platkin against the Manalapan-Englishtown, Marlboro, and Middletown school districts and boards, allege the policies violate New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination and put LGBTQ students at risk.

Dmitriy Popov, 17, of Brooklyn, was arraigned on multiple charges, including murder and a hate crime. The Kings County district attorney is charging Popov as an adult. According to New York State law, anyone over 13 who is charged with murder is prosecuted in adult court. The teen was back in court Monday morning for a procedural hearing. Previously it had been reported that he was Muslim however, Popov’s lawyer Mark Pollard told The Independent in an interview on Tuesday that his client describes himself as a “good Christian boy” who regularly attends church.
