Laura Suárez León grew up in the Dominican Republic, in a home where money was simply not discussed. In her own words, the topic was avoided and it was awkward. Years later, with a master's degree in international commerce behind her, she read the Bitcoin whitepaper and realised she had never been taught where money actually comes from.
In this episode of SatoShe Stories she talks about what changed her mind, what it cost her socially to be the woman who would not stop bringing money up, and why she wrote out and rehearsed what she would say to her family at the dinner table.
We also talk about something that looks unrelated and is not. Laura competes in Beach Ultimate for the Spanish women's masters team and won bronze at the World Championships, after two years of preparation that included working with a psychologist on performing under pressure. Her line, borrowed from Angela Duckworth: enthusiasm is common, endurance is rare.

SatoShe Stories is a podcast about women who took Bitcoin seriously.
Most women meet Bitcoin the same way: through a headline, a colleague at lunch, a partner who has opinions, or a…
This podcast is the conversation that should have happened instead.
In every episode, one woman tells her own story: how she first came across Bitcoin, what she assumed at the beginning, what she got wrong along the way, what finally made it click, and what she understands today that she did not understand three years ago. Some guests are lawyers, bankers, founders, engineers or researchers. Some work in the industry, some simply decided to learn. What they share is that they stopped waiting to be invited and worked it out for themselves.
What you can expect
Real stories rather than explainers. Honest accounts of mistakes, including the expensive ones. Conversations about the parts nobody talks about: how it feels to be the only woman in the room, what to do when your partner disagrees, how to talk about money in a relationship, what happens to your assets when a marriage ends or someone dies, and why self custody is less about technology than about trust.
What you will not hear here: price talk, predictions, tips, or anything resembling investment advice. This is education, not a recommendation, and every episode stays on the right side of that line. If you are looking for a show that tells you what to buy, this is not it. If you are looking for the understanding that lets you decide for yourself, you are in the right place.
Who it is for
Women who are curious but have never found a good entry point. Women who work in finance and are quietly tired of nodding along. Founders and self employed women who are building something and realising nobody has thought about their financial independence for them. And anyone who prefers a real conversation over a lecture.
Men are welcome to listen. The stories are told by women because those are the ones that rarely get told, not because the subject belongs to anyone.
About the host
Lisa Tscherry is the founder of SatoShe, a Bitcoin education platform for women in Switzerland with a community of over a thousand women, monthly sessions in Zurich, an eight week course and formats for banks, law firms and companies. She holds a master's degree in Blockchain and Digital Currency, where she graduated top of her year, and a second master's in Psychology. She sits on the board of the Bitcoin Association Switzerland.
The psychology background is not decoration. After two years and hundreds of conversations, the pattern is consistent: what stops women is almost never the technology. It is the feeling of having missed the moment when everyone else apparently understood.
Episodes are published in English and in German, depending on the guest. New episodes every two weeks.
