The Unconventional Economist Leith Van Onselen dispels myths about immigration, telling Luke Australia needs to reduce the numbers of migrants arriving in the country.

Nationals Senator John 'Wacka' Williams has weighed in on the civil war that broke out between Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and his deputy Barnaby Joyce this week. The Prime Minister  branded Mr Joyce's relationship with a staffer a "shocking error of judgment", and the Nationals leader hit back by labelling the comments “inept,” and “unnecessary.”

Luke was joined by Senator Williams, who told him it's been a hard week but he believes the leaders can mend their relationship if they sit down and "have a cold beer and a good long chat."

Horse racing fans will be pleased to know that the renowned NSW mare, Winx, is returning to the racing track. Winx is set to participate in a final 1200m gallop rehearsal on February 17th, joined by a group of stablemates. The rehearsal is happening ahead of the Group 1 TAB Chipping Norton Stakes on Saturday March 3rd at Royal Randwick. 

Luke caught up with Winx's trainer Chris Waller ahead of the rehearsal run.

A new CSIRO study has revealed there is double the number of Great White Sharks on the Australian west coast than on the east coast.

 

The results have sparked a push for more protections against sharks in Western Australia, which is a major spot for attacks every year.

 

Federal Environment Minister, Josh Frydenberg, spoke with Luke about why the West Australian Government needs to do more to protect beach-goers from sharks, and weighed in on the public feud between Barnaby Joyce and Malcolm Turnbull.

Liberal Senator and retired major general Jim Molan made headlines this week with his renewed warnings about levels of migration in Australia.  Senator Molan warned that our culture and infrastructure cannot handle the present flow of immigrants.  But do we actually need to worry about our growing immigrant population?

Luke was joined by the Co-founder of Macro Business, Leith van Onselen, to discuss the issues surrounding population growth and whether corporate tax cuts are the best way to cut down living costs.
