Saturday Mourning Cartoons

Wouldn't you know it!  We hit a milestone and then get lazy.  Instead of talking cartoons this week, we're releasing some b-sides for you.  What are SMC b-sides you ask?  It's all the jokes and trash that happens BEFORE the show.  It's Sean and Dave acting silly and irreverent!  This week, we have a 20 minute conversation about Parappa the rapper!  When that new mixtape gonna drop?!  No clue.  *fingers crossed*

It's our 100th episode and part 2 of our discussion about Batman The Animated Series.  We've been doing the show for two years and so thankful that we've gotten this far with the help of so many amazing friends.  This week we get into the villains that challenge and ultimately make Batman such an incredible crime fighter and detective.  We're joined by some of our friends as they share their memories from the show.

Enjoy our 100th episode!  Cheers!

"I am vengeance, I am the night, I am Batman," is one of the few inspiration lines that inspired this very podcast.  To say that Batman The Animated Series is a seminal piece of animated is an understatement as this inspired so many cartoons.  The grit, noir feel, orchestral music, and amazing voice acting make this show something that Sean and Dave use to judge just about every cartoon we watch.  Join us as we recap the episodes "Deep Freeze" and "On leather wings" and delve into the show that inspired us to launch this podcast.

Buckle your Seatbelts because we're about to blow this scene.  This week Sean and Dave are joined by the wonderful Allison Keene from Collider.com to discuss Cowboy Bebop.  This show holds a special place in the guys hearts and for Allison, it was a show that she eventually grew to love.  Boasting an amazing soundtrack from Yoko Kanno, jazz music and sense of noir are woven into the entire fabric of this show.  We jumped back to examine four episodes that we believe do an amazing job of conveying the relationships and style of this show.

3, 2, 1 let's jam, only on Saturday Mourning Cartoons!

This week, DaveStar and SeanStar are having some adventures.  What kind of adventures; adventures that are completely bizarre.  We're watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and at some point, SeanStar's brain leaks out of his ear because this show is fantastic and also completely insane.  One thing we've been able to ascertain is that Dio Brando is the worst "human" on the planet.  Dio is all about two things that Sean and Dave hate, which is stealing kisses and knee kicking dogs.  Dave gets a little preview of the next chapter of Jojo's adventure which has convinced us both to continue watching this bizarre adventure!

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is another listener request!  Thank you all for listening and please subscribe on iTunes and Stitcher.  Also, check us out on Facebook - www.facebook.com/SaturdayMourningCartoons

A weekly podcast that revisits, reviews, and ridicules some of the world\'s weirdest animated series.

You called us dummies for not watching Zoids: Chaotic Century and we listened!  This week we took another user submission from Facebook and we were honestly a little hesitant after our previous foray into Zoids New Century.  Chaotic Century was a great mix of intriguing plot points and familiar liger zoids.  The pilot for Chaotic Century hit all the major beats to make for not only a great pilot episode but also an incredible finale.

Are you concerned about Millions of Unusual Small Creatures Lurking Everywhere?  Do you have a shoebox full of small pink rubber men from the mid 80's in your garage?  Did you ever wonder where this franchise originated from and how it got to the USA?  The answer is the cartoon show Ultimate Muscle.  Originating in Japan as a parody of superhero shows/manga, Ultimate Muscle was a hit but only the toys made their way to the US in the 80's.  In 2002, a second generation of Ultimate Muscle aired for 51 episodes on Fox Box.

Listen this week as Sean and Dave have tag teamed jumped off a turn buckle with an atomic knee and into the show - Ultimate Muscle!

Ring the bell because this is the final round of our Pocket Monster March Madness Month and we're ready to throw in the towel!  Who will be victorious?  Will it be the contender who guilts us into dealing with environmental issues only to abandon that ideal immediately?  Or will it be the demon pinocchio who shoots lightening from his face?  Digimon or Zatch Bell?!  We're bringing in friend and guest Tony Lazzeroni to help us settle is month long dispute!

Join us as we come to the conclusion of this month long 'bout on the Saturday Mourning Cartoons podcast!

It's the penultimate round of the our Pocket Monster March Madness Month and we've summoned Evan Valentine, comedian and contributor at Collider.com and Comicbook.com, to do battle with Monster Rancher and Magi-Nation!  Will it be the show where the big bad is named after the sound a cow makes?  Or will it be the the show with the absolute most vanilla main character we've ever seen, name Tony Jones?!   Evan, Dave, and Sean have strong opinions about these shows that may culminated in the lowest score we've had to date!

Find out who will win! Will it be Monster Rancher or Magi-Nation on this weeks Saturday Mourning Cartoons podcast?  Listen to find out who wins this round.

PS - if you read this then you're the best!
