This week on Cinemaholics, we review Saturday Night, a new awards-season comedy depicting the 90 minutes leading up to the airing of SNL's momentous first episode. Jason Reitman directs and co-writes with Gil Kenan, and we discuss the highs and lows of what is ultimately a fantastical, yet uneven origin story with plenty to laugh at.

Saturday Night opened in limited release on September 27 and opens wide on October 11 through Sony Pictures Releasing. It has a 109-minute runtime and the (massive) cast includes Gabriel LaBelle, Rachel Sennott, Cory Michael Smith, Ella Hunt, Dylan O'Brien, Emily Fairn, Matt Wood, Lamorne Morris, Kim Matula, Finn Wolfhard, Nicholas Braun, Cooper Hoffman, Andrew Barth Feldman, Kaia Gerber, Tommy Dewey, Willem Dafoe, Matthew Rhys, and J. K. Simmons.
