Early Life and the Beginning of Struggle
Angela Dickson’s story begins with a childhood marked by responsibility and hardship. Growing up in a large family, she cared for younger siblings while battling addiction from the age of thirteen. Her teenage years were shaped by juvenile probation, drug court, and repeated cycles of wanting recovery but being pulled back into environments that encouraged the opposite. Even then, she pictured a future version of herself—sober, stable, and speaking from a place of healing—but struggled to reach it.
Addiction, Relationships, and Incarceration
As Angela moved into adulthood, instability followed her in different forms. Emotionally abusive relationships, medication-assisted treatment programs, and difficult living circumstances created a pattern that repeatedly disrupted her attempts to recover. Her marriage—essentially arranged—added cultural and emotional challenges while she was already fighting for custody of her children. By twenty-three, her life spiraled into a point that led to prison. Despite the chaos, she never stopped seeking sobriety, often returning to AA meetings and imagining herself sharing her story from a better place.
Turning Point During the COVID Era
A major shift occurred in 2019–2020. Angela left another unstable relationship, resumed AA, and took her daughters in full time during the COVID shutdown. She led daily AA meetings on Zoom, structured her home life around sobriety, and slowly rebuilt her personal stability. This period became the foundation for her next chapter: entrepreneurship and wellness.
Entrepreneurship and Building Stability
Angela launched Goof Proof Cleaning Solutions during this time and later created Elemental Wellness Company. What began as a means of survival became an avenue for growth and purpose. She poured herself into her businesses while parenting, studying, and reshaping her lifestyle. Though balancing cleaning work, school, parenting, and self-improvement was overwhelming, it also gave her consistency, income, and direction.
Path to Wellness and Somatic Healing
Her deeper transformation came through wellness practices—particularly breathwork, stretching, mobility work, herbalism, and grounding exercises. Breathwork became a breakthrough tool, helping her regulate anxiety and reconnect with her body. Her shift toward healing inspired her to study herbalism daily and engage in year-long learning challenges. Over time, her practices influenced her family, who began adopting her teas and wellness routines with noticeable benefits.
Reflections on Growth and Environment
She consistently emphasizes the influence of environment—the people around her, the energy they carry, and the mindset they reinforce. Angela believes many of her setbacks stemmed from being surrounded by negative or unstable influences, while her progress came when she changed her surroundings and protected her peace. She urges others to recognize their potential, stay around positive people, and allow themselves to grow.
The Message She Hopes to Leave Behind
As the conversation closes, Angela reflects on how different she is from the person she once was. Her life today—full of discipline, learning, wellness, and purpose—doesn’t resemble the chaos she emerged from. She says she wishes she could tell her younger self one thing: if you only knew what you’re capable of, you wouldn’t settle for anything less. Her story shows that transformation is real, growth is possible, and healing often begins with small daily steps.
