In her media interviews since leaving the State Department, including with CNN, Washington Post, NPR, Democracy Now, and Al Jazeera English, she explains how the policy is illegal, inhumane, counter-productive, and a threat to U.S. national security.
Hala also has deep expertise in human rights and counter-terrorism, having worked extensively on those files as an American diplomat. She was the recipient of multiple prestigious State Department awards throughout her 18 years with the State Department, recognizing her
impactful diplomatic work across assignments.
