As Baptists, one of our most important convictions about how we do church is that important decisions shouldn’t be made by individuals or leadership teams, but rather in our Church Members Meetings. We believe in the collective wisdom of the whole congregation and that the moment when we can best seek God’s guidance and direction is when we all gather together as members. But are there practices or attitudes that we can adopt which might help us to do this in a healthier and more constructive way?
We thought about these issues in our Sunday Night Theology on 16 October, which was led by Rev Ruth Moriarty, Minister of Christ Church New Southgate & Friern Barnet in north London, and also a DProf student at the University of Chester.
