Scanline Talks

It's been a while since we just talked about what we've been playing: let's do that! Jen and Six talk about Super Mario 3D World, Bowser's Fury, Slime Rancher, The Medium, Suzerain, and a whole host of Steam demos. Join us!

Our intro music is the Title Theme from Super Mario 3D World, and our outro music is Glass Desert from Slime Rancher.

With the first episode of That's a ShenMood, we claimed we'd play through the Shenmue series and talk about it throughout 2020. But, much like Ryo Hazuki, we quickly learned that the task we'd taken on was harder than we could have ever imagined. We also learned that Six has a powerful procrastinator streak. But finally, we return. Jen, Kyrie, and Six discuss Shenmue 2.

It all comes down to this... Game of the Year. We've played a lot of games, we have all sorts of feelings about them. But who will be crowned Scanline Media's Game of the Year 2020? Jen, Kyrie, and Six decide. Don't forget to check out the Write-Up for the winner and runners-up on the site!

Writing is essential to our enjoyment of games around here. Hell, there are games we think are BAD GAMES that we still have lots of affection for because of their cast of characters. That's why every year, we take time to celebrate the Best New Character. Join Jen, Kyrie, and Six to hash out our winner. We got waaaay more than our yearly dose of Yikes in gaming's 2020. And that's putting it lightly, honestly: some really awful shit happened in the gaming world. Obviously outside of it was hellish, but we're not really qualified to talk about the pandemic and politics and all that mess? We're gonna keep it a little more light-hearted, though still not super fun. Jen, Kyrie, and Six decide the Hottest Mess in games of 2020. 2020 was really the coming out party for Virtual Youtubers, or "Vtubers." Obviously thanks to characters like Super Sonico and Kizuna Ai the concept predates 2020, but this was the year that it really hit big. Allen, Jen, and Kyrie are big into the vtuber scene. Six knows a little, and isn't much help here. Together, they will decide the Best Vtuber of 2020. Don't forget to check out the Write-Up for the winner and runners-up on the site!

Three Kingdoms was definitely the book of the year around these parts. Hell, we had a whole podcast about it!
