This week I am pondering why so many who are interested in true health and have made the effort to change diet and exercise but are reluctant to acknowledge their own shadow self. The shadow is our unconscious, all the unintegrated emotions, beliefs and faulty programming that is running the show in the background on autopilot - until we make it conscious by shining the light of our conscious awareness on it. If this shadow self is not addressed it can often keep us in a chronic stress state or have a dysregulated nervous system, even if our diet and exercise is in the healthy zone. A dysregulated nervous system is behind most chronic illness and pain. It rules everything. It can block our innate healing mechanism that we all have. A missing link in healing learning to embrace our own shadow and stop being scared of it…it just wants to be seen without condemnation and judgement.
