As I walked into my local library, I felt at peace. Some people are addicted to heroin; I am addicted to literature. I love the way libraries are so organized, not only are books separated by genre but are also placed in alphabetical order. Beyond the placements of books the library is a place of poetry, a place of silence. I like the quiet atmosphere. Some find this insipid, but they are mad.

One afternoon, a couple was traveling on by car when at a far distance they saw a woman in the middle of the road, waving frantically.

The wife told her husband to keep on driving because it might be too dangerous......

One day, there was this girl, let's call her Anha. In her hands, Anna held a handful of all kinds of pills. As she stared at them, she was thinking about all of the pain and suffering she has endured throughout her 17 years of life......

We've all experienced it, right? That sudden feeling like someone is looking you. A chill runs up your spine, and you are convinced that you have to find the source of the sensation. You look around and see someone just randomly staring at you. At gives you even more of a spook, but, after a few seconds of awkwardness, it subsides. It was the middle of the night and I was in the bedroom, trying to relax. I changed the channel on the TV and saw that the local news was on. At the bottom of the screen, there was a breaking news alert.

"Murderer on the loose......"

On the morning of her birthday, Lucy's mother woke her up and told her a package had arrived in the mail and it was addressed to her.

The girl hurriedly unwrapped the gift and was horrified at what she found inside. It was the most disgusting old doll she had ever seen. It was completely bald and it's skin was cracked and caked in dirt. The worst thing of all was it's teeth. They were long, pointy, sharp and beastly. They looked like an animal's fangs.....

When Ryoko went to university, she moved into a dorm on campus. That was how she met Yukie, a 20-year old woman who she was sharing the room with. Yukie was a very strange person, kind of like a shadow. She didn't speak very much, never smiled and always kept to herself. There was a rumor going around that she had lost her boyfriend a few years before.

After the murders, the house had lain empty for two whole years. The newspapers were full of sickening details about the brutal crime and whenever prospective buyers heard what had happened behind those grey concrete walls, they stayed well away.....

There was a prince named Prospero who lived in a huge castle in the mountains. His servants and courtiers attended to his every whim. The castle had high stone walls and was surrounded by a deep moat. At the entrance, there were were giant iron gates and an enormous portcullis over the door.

The prince heard rumors that there was a terrible plague sweeping across the land. They called it the Red Death. The disease was highly contagious and whole towns had been wiped out in a single night....
