Sl: Sonce se je prebilo skozi oblake, ko je Zala stopila na rimski trg.
En: The sun broke through the clouds as Zala stepped onto the Roman market.

Sl: Ljudi je bilo vsepovsod.
En: People were everywhere.

Sl: V zraku je vonj po začimbah mešal z vonjem znoja in cvetočih pomladnih cvetov.
En: The air was filled with the scent of spices mixed with the smell of sweat and blooming spring flowers.

Sl: Zala je bila trgovka iz Slovenije.
En: Zala was a merchant from Slovenia.

Sl: Prišla je v Rim, da najde redke začimbe.
En: She had come to Rome to find rare spices.

Sl: Potrebovala jih je za poslovnega partnerja doma.
En: She needed them for a business partner back home.

Sl: Trg je bil glasen.
En: The market was loud.

Sl: Klici trgovcev so se mešali s smehom in pogovori.

Sl: Zala je pogledovala okoli sebe.

Sl: Končno je Zala zagledala nekaj, kar je iskala.
En: Finally, Zala saw something she was looking for.

Sl: Na stojnici starca je opazila poseben set začimb.
En: At an old man's stall, she noticed a special set of spices.

Sl: Starec pa je takoj dvignil ceno, ko je videl, da je zanjo zanimanje.
En: The old man immediately raised the price when he saw there was interest in them.

Sl: Iznenada je prišel še nekdo.
En: Suddenly, someone else came along.

Sl: Bogat rimski plemič, oblečen v dragoceno tuniko, je pristopil k stojnici.

Sl: Položil je oko na iste začimbe.
En: He set his eyes on the same spices.

Sl: Zala je vedela, da mora ukrepati hitro in pametno.

Sl: Namrščila je čelo, premišljevala.
En: She furrowed her brow, thinking.

Sl: Zala se je obrnila do starca.
En: Zala turned to the old man.

Sl: "Imam nekaj posebnega iz Slovenije," je rekla.

Sl: "Edinstvena volna.
En: "Unique wool.

Sl: Redka in lepa.
En: Rare and beautiful."

Sl: " Starec je bil radoveden.
En: The old man was curious.

Sl: Zanima ga je njena ponudba.
En: Her offer intrigued him.

Sl: Rimski plemič je gledal presenečeno, a brez volje za novo ponudbo.
En: The Roman nobleman watched in surprise but had no inclination to make a new offer.

Sl: Starec je privolil.
En: The old man agreed.

Sl: Volno je zamenjal za začimbe.
En: He traded the spices for the wool.

Sl: Zala si je oddahnila.
En: Zala breathed a sigh of relief.

Sl: Uspela je najti, kar je iskala.
En: She had managed to find what she was looking for.

Sl: Občutek zmagoslavja se je porodila v njej.
