Jesus fasted for 40 days – “chasing out the deaf and dumb spirit”.
Helpful hints before fasting:
1. If you have an existing medical condition or concern, first obtain medical advice before fasting.
2. Withdrawal from caffeine and sugar may cause headaches, but it is a part of the detoxification process.
3. Fasting can cause bad breath. Brush your teeth more regularly, chew gum or keep your distance when speaking.
4. Many of the toxins eliminated during fasting, especially over longer fasting periods, are emitted via the skin. This may cause body odour. Bathing and cleansing the skin is essential.
5. It takes time for your digestive system to adapt, especially after not eating for a few days. Pace yourself and break your fast slowly by introducing small portions of fruit or vegetables.
