Steve and Beth end up talking about a circumstance at school.  Beth processes her uncertainty about how another student was treated, while Steve cautions against meddling in other people's business.  This is a profitable interchange because the conversation is the conduit to a good decision: Beth will attempt to be a friend to a new student.     

For the story: There are multiple characters interacting in most episodes despite them all sharing the same voice.
