In the wake of the tragedy in Las Vegas, politicians are quick to share that "their thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families", but do little to regulate the sale of semi automatic weapons. A Pennsylvania councilman who campaigns around anti abortion laws citing that it's against his "christian values", recently resigned after it was revealed that he pressured his mistress to have an abortion. Tina and Erika Campbell of Mary Mary, have openly supported 45, with Tina justifying her decision in a recent interview by saying "And some of ’s views on Christianity, honestly, is what caused me to vote for him."   So what do we make of all this? How does faith, politics & values mix?

On this week's episode, we pick up Nish's suggestion of talking about "being a black women and stereotypes", and expanding it a little to talk about the "black girl magic burden. "Black Girls are Magic, originator @thePBG on twitter coined the phrase as a way to uplift black girls and women, but the phrase takes on a life of its on when women are constantly expected to "magically" work full time, run a household, care about their the boyfriend's mommas birthday, help their lil cousin find a job, be the "fun" friend and be a supportive and loving partner. This burden seems doubled as a black women when you have to care about all the challenges of living in a world that that doesn't value gender equality while fearing for the lives of black men and women at the hands of police. On this week's episode we discuss the use of using social media to investigate everyday people people. I call it "Facebook Bureau of Investigations or F.B.I" and the phenomenon is running rampant impacting dating as people stalk social profiles, check likes, followers and tagged photographs all in an effort to learn about life through online personas. 

Beyond some light hearted “internet getting to know you” this phenomenon becomes more involved when it relates to missing persons, police investigations and job security. This came to a head in the recent, tragic death of Kenneka Jenkins, a young woman who was found dead in a hotel freezer in metro Chicago. The case has inspired what the Washington Post calls “countless amateur sleuths to pore over what evidence has been made public, with speculative theories that the death was no accident” which drugged up conspiracy theories of rape, murder and deception. What are we to do with our investigative nature? How can it be helpful or harmful to us in connecting to one another.
