After a three day government shutdown, Congress has voted to reopen the government until February 8th. Democrats had originally said they would not vote to keep the government open without a deal on DACA, but backed off that position once it became clear they were not getting as much public support as they expected. With a new deadline of February 8th, the debate over what to do about DACA will be intense over the next couple of weeks. How do you think we should handle the beneficiaries of DACA? Do we have a moral responsibility to protect people who voluntarily came out of the shadows to file for work permits and pay taxes? Or should the concerns of American citizens come first, no matter what? Did the Democrats hurt their brand by shutting down the government over this issue?
