So... Bill Maher made some rude comments about fandom back when Stan Lee died, and then he doubled down, and then he tripled down.

And a lot of people think that he's being a troll. 

But it leads us to an even bigger conversation about disagreeing without being disagreeable. Is that even possible in this day and age of the internet and the anonymity it gives some people?

We're back!

With Halloween right around the corner, this week's The Tim Harvey Show looks at a few of Mr. Harvey's favorite lessor-known horror films!

Everyone knows the Halloween's, the Friday the 13th's and the Saw's, but there are a lot of great horror films that either didn't get the love they deserved from the studios or somehow slipped by audiences. Films like Ravenous, Altered and Session 9 have a lot to offer the horror fan looking for some good scares this Halloween, and Mr. Harvey has those not-as-famous films and more to share with you!

This week on the The Tim Harvey Show, we - shocker of shockers - don't talk about the latest harassment scandals... well, not very much, anyway. No, this week Mr. Harvey ponders The Punisher, Netflix's latest Marvel series, and asks wether Frank Castle can really be the "hero" of a story?

Created in the '70's as an anti-hero, Marvel's The Punisher has seen several comic series - written by some of best writers in the comics business - and three movie adaptations, with the violent vigilante taking a rather shocking road to his own TV series. And by shocking we don't just mean the more violent of the comic series, oh no. We mean FrankenCastle.

This was a thing that happened.

This week on the The Tim Harvey Show, we - shocker of shockers - talk about the latest harassment scandals, which has now brought down Harvey Weinstein and Andy Signore, founder of Screen Junkies. The future looks not so bright for the worst players in the entertainment industry, and while that is definitively a good thing, the long-term impact on the genre world is still unclear.

The treatment of women also plays into some of the criticisms of the original Blade Runner, and with the release of its sequel last weekend, those criticisms and others are being discussed again by genre fans. Mr. Harvey takes a look at how Film Noir influenced the first film for good and ill, his own interest in that genre and its issues, and how Blade Runner influenced and continues to influence our cinematic view of the future. And, more importantly, no matter how influential or popular it is, why it's OK to not like Ridley Scott's iconic film.

I wasn't planning on repeating last week's rant about Men Treating Women Badly, but then the news about Harvey Weinstein broke. Hopefully this isn't going to turn into a weekly rant because that'll be terribly depressing.

What isn't depressing is the plan to record a series of live short horror script readings later this month, which we hope will be a new segment of the show, all for your aural and visual pleasure. We bring you the news about that, consider James Cameron's Wonder Woman fit, and ponder the latest Star Trek: Discovery episode, spoiler-free.
